With the opening of the west came an array of opportunities for fortune seekers of all kinds. Most made their living from cattle or gold, some used a deck of cards.

Professional Gamblers flourished with the arrival of civilization to the west. They traveled from town to town using their earnings to finance their way of life. A few men even left good occupations to pursue Lady Luck. Every settlement included a local Saloon, a perfect place to get a drink and deal out a couple hands.

A good hand of poker could often bring in more than a cowhand's monthly wage. However when the stakes ran high, so did emotions. Getting caught with an Ace up the sleeve or playing with a sore loser could be fatal.

Being as quick with a gun as they were with cards was a necessity. Wild and uncertain was the life of a man whose future depended on the next hand he was dealt.
