Shortcut to nowhere is a depiction of a stubborn, worn out cowboy who, despite warnings, decides to take a shortcut to save himself some time and avoid an impending storm. On a rocky ledge, with the wind fiercely blowing at his back, he discovers he must turn back and find the suggested trail to his destination. A poem describing his dilemma is mounted on top of the walnut base.
