Cowboy Series Mask - Virgil
Virgil
Well respected lawmen were essential inthe newly formed territories of the vast frontier. Along with the ever increasing population of towns and settlements, came disorder and lawbreakers.
Tombstone, Arizona was one such place. Silver was discovered, and the news of it brought roughly 12,000 new faces to the desert. Sterling men such as Virgil Earp were employed as peace keepers.
On the night of March 15, 1881 a stagecoach was robbed resulting in the death of the driver. Virgil had his suspicions about a group of men called the Clanton gang, and accused them of taking part of the robbery and murder. The Earp brothers found themselves pitted against these men and trouble was imminent.
Marshal Earp deputized his brothers Morgan, Wyatt, and good friend, "Doc" Holliday to aid him in the showdown that was about to unfold. Virgil fearlessly held his ground during the infamous gunfight at the O.K. Corral. He was shot and wounded in the leg, yet he was determined to bring the Clantons to justice, and that he did.
No matter how many times we recall the events of that day, we still swell with a sense of pride and gratitude.
